2022 NFL Draft Preview: Players That Matter

Football is back! Kind of I guess. At least talking about football is back and that is half the battle. The 2022 NFL Draft is this week and I don’t think it is crazy to say that this has to be the least hyped draft in a while. Clearly the reason is because a Xichigan defensive end is potentially the number 1 overall pick. That’ll surely drive away most if not all interest. Aidan Hutchinson being the top prospect is a dead give away that this draft class is extremely under whelming. It’s sad that media, in an effort to drum up some buzz around the sure bust Aidan Hutchinson, has to make the joke that he is better than both Bosa brothers. Shittin’ me? Aidan Hutchinson couldn’t hold either Bosa brothers jock. Joey Bosa is the most laid back football player I have ever seen and he still has more talent in his left nut than Aidan Hutchinson has all together. But I digress. This blog is about players that matter. Clearly this blog is not meant for him. Let’s get into it.

Garret Wilson

Do it all stud is an understatement. Jump ball? He can go get it. Fist down? Elite strong route runner. Deep ball? 4.3 speed. Wilson will be the first WR off the board and surely will be in the top 10 picks. He screams Jets at 10 and that means he won’t be relevant in the NFL until he signs with a decent team after his rookie contract.

Chris Olave

Dude is BUTTERY. Silky smooth routes and elite runner after the catch. The ultimate get the ball in his hands and let him fly guy. Slightly downgraded because Jaxon Smith Njigba became a better version of Olave by the end of the season. Olave had a bit of a token touchdown a game and disappear at times feel to him. Nothing wrong with tuddies though. The Washington R words at 11 makes sense. Olave with Scary Terry would be… scary.

Nick Petit-Frere

6’5” 315 lbs. UNIT. Nick is a boring pick that turns into a 10 year plus left tackle and the back bone of your franchises offense. Please let the Bears draft him in the second round and reunite him with Justin Fields who desperately needs offensive line help. I have Nick as a first round grade but he will go round 2.

Haskell Garret

Remember Tate Martell. Yeah me neither. I remember when Tate came to Ohio State as the best prospect in a decade and he brought his high school teammate, Haskell. How the tables have turned. Haskell is sure to be a fan favorite of whichever team takes him with his story of getting shot in the face trying to save a guy. Oh yeah also he sheds o lineman like no other. I have him graded as a first rounder but he will go day 2 in the draft.

Jeremy Ruckert

First round talent and you can’t convince me otherwise. Ohio State has had some really good tight ends lately but unfortunately the Buckeyes don’t utilize that position as much as most Big Ten teams. Can’t blame them when they have guys like Olave and Wilson. Ruckert made the most of his targets and showed some real athleticism. I really believe if he lands in the right spot (Green Bay), he makes a impact day 1.

I’m super optimistic about these 5. No real rhyme or reason behind why I chose these 5 to talk about other than their numbers and film scream Pro Bowls. Go Bucks
